Last week saw the release of John Brown’s eagerly anticipated ninth volume, “Clay to Bronze,” a DVD detailing the entire process of moving a clay sculpture through the foundry process, from the making of the mold, to the chasing of the wax, the creation of the investment mold, the chasing of the metal, and all way to the culmination of the entire process—the patina.
An interest in bronze, and the creation thereof, is recommended, but not required. As you’ll see, the foundry process is an intriguing one, and one that tends to capture the attention of all.
